Our College Holds an International Lecture Online
Late June 3rd, we invited the global students and school development evaluation research center secretary general at Tsinghua University Hu Wanqi to make a seminar in live form through the network for college students on “how to improve students’ global competency from the Angle of international planning and background enhancement: under the outbreak of vision and methods”, performing professional interpretation on raising up the global competency.

In this lecture, Hu Wanqi gave clear answers to students about what global competence is, why college students need global competence and how to improve global competence. She pointed out that under the current situation, global competence was a high quality ability that individuals needed to improve, just like the so-called “one force reduces ten skills”. The improvement of global competence can play an escort role for the future development of students. Studying abroad is the simplest and most straightforward way to improve global competence. Students should make a good career plan and make it clear that studying abroad is not about getting a foreign diploma, but about understanding the learning environment and receiving a more professional education abroad. Although the epidemic and the current international relations will have a certain impact on the improvement of college students’ global competence in the short term, in the long run, they will not become the factors that hinder the improvement of their global competence. At the same time, she pointed out that global competencies could be acquired not only through overseas courses, but also by seeking international learning and research opportunities online, and by paying attention and participating in global affairs.
Hu Wanqi’s wonderful sharing brought new ideas and new perspectives for confused students in the academic career planning. The online lecture received a warm response. During the course, some students left messages in the comment section to discuss, raised doubts and express opinions, and the number of online views reached 793.
