The School of Computer Science and Technology of Shandong University of Finance and Economics was formerly known as “Economic Information Major”. In 1990, Shandong Institute of Economics established the “Economic Information Major” in Shandong Province. In 1993, it established the “Computer Management Department”. In 2003, it was renamed as “Information Management College”. In the same year, the Computer Science and Technology major is separated from the School of Information Management, and turned to be the Department of Computer Science and Technology which was renamed as the School of Computer Science and Technology in 2005. The School of Computer Information Engineering of Shandong University of Finance was formerly known as the Department of Economic Information Management and was established in 1993. In 2012, the School of Computer Science and Technology of Shandong University of Economics and the School of Computer Information Engineering of Shandong Finance College merged and formed the School of Computer Science and Technology of Shandong University of Finance and Economics.
After nearly 30-year development, the college has three undergraduate majors: computer science and technology, digital media technology, digital media art; first-level master's degree : computer science and technology; second-level doctoral programs: data mining and visualization, The university services for the policy of“Belt and Road” recruiting international students (masters, doctors),and has become the only internationalized engineering academy with Combined Bachelor-Master-Doctor's Degree Program and the characteristics of “financial intelligence” in the economic field.

The School of Computer Science and Technology always adheres to the mission of “high starting point, high standards, high quality and distinctive features”, vigorously implements the “New IT Excellence Talents Training Program”, strengthens exchanges and cooperation with domestic and foreign enterprises and universities, pays attention to the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and actively serve the society. In recent years, the college has developed rapidly. There are 106 faculty members and 87 full-time teachers, including 20 professors and 38 associate professors; 6 doctoral supervisors, 23 master tutors, 1 foreign professional teacher, and 5 well-known specially-appointed professors from 985,211 and overseas (outside) universities. We have formed a team of teachers who are led by well-known professors, led by academic professors, young doctors as backbones, and foreign professional teachers.
In recent years, the school has undertaken 1 significant international exchange and cooperation project of the National Natural Science Foundation, 1 national key R&D project, more than 30 national-level projects, 1 key project of the Ministry of Education, and more than 80 provincial-level projects. More than 800 papers were published in important academic journals and conferences, among which more than 650 were searched by SCI/EI. More than 10 professional textbooks were published. The school was awarded 1 first prize and 1 second prize of Science and Technology Progress by the Ministry of Education, and 1 first prize, 2 second prizes and several third prizes of Shandong Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 Shandong Provincial Government Cultural Innovation Award, more than 20 other awards of ministry and province, and more than 20 invention patents. The school also received 15 awards for the second prize of provincial teaching achievements. In the past three years, students have won more than 500 provincial awards and more than 100 national awards.
